Pace Bootlegger is a non-profit organization that has been in existence since the late 1970's. It's primary goal is to help volleyball athletes that are aspiring to be the best in their sport and develop a high-level of play. At Pace Bootlegger, we focus on hard work, dedication and commitment to self, sport and team. Pace Bootlegger teams have been competing for regional and national championships since the early 1980's and is highly regarded among volleyball players and coaches throughout the country. Teams have consistently finished in the Top Ten nationally.
Pace Bootlegger is "Committed To Excellence" and we stand by that philosophy. It is seen in everything we do, from coaching to training, from club organization to assistance with college recruiting, we pride ourselves in our coach's and player's dedication. Players with Pace Bootlegger develop a desire to take the game to the next level and pursue the mental as well as physical aspects of the game. Pace has continued to expand and quickly develop as a premiere boys Junior Olympic program. Additionally, many of our players receive scholarship money to play volleyball in college.
Essentially, players leave the Pace Bootlegger Volleyball Club with an “advantage” over other players and athletes. They leave with an experience that helped define them as mature leaders and versatile athletes.
Pace Bootlegger was founded by Cal Wickens (Coaching Coordinator) who has been the driving force behind boys volleyball in Rochester, NY for almost 3 decades. Cal's coaching experience is extensive, illustrating his commitment to volleyball education:
The Board of Directors consists of a Club Director, Treasurer, Coaching Coordinator, Tournament Coordinator, Travel Coordinator, Head Parent Rep, coaches and several parent representatives. The Board of Directors handle the affairs and direction of Pace Bootlegger. In addition, teams have parent support groups that assist with fundraising, budgeting, travel arrangements and chaperoning. Parent commitment and support are essential to the overall foundation of the club. Parents are encouraged to travel and participate as much as possible.
Each team has a dedicated coaching staff, who determine who will play and in what positions. Our coaching staff is comprised of volunteers who love the sport of volleyball. Most have played at the collegiate level and some professionally. Others currently coach college and high school teams. They are all committed to the training, safety and development of your son.
